At Nelson Boxing and Athletic Club, we are more than just a gym—we are a community dedicated to fostering growth, discipline, and resilience through the art of boxing. Since joining the BC Amateur Boxing Association in September 2013, we have been committed to providing a safe, fun, and supportive environment for athletes in the West Kootenay region. Our club is proud to be affiliated with other esteemed boxing organizations across Canada through Boxing Canada and internationally with World Boxing, creating a network that strengthens both our athletes and our sport.

OWNER, HEAD COACH

Jesse Pineiro

NCCP Competition Development Certified Boxing Coach

Jesse Pineiro is the Owner and Head Coach at Nelson Boxing Club, bringing decades of experience and a deep-rooted passion for the sport. He is an NCCP Competition Development Certified Coach and an IBA 1-Star Certified Coach, holding a Diploma in Social Work from Selkirk College (2016). With a background in both competition and mentorship, Jesse leads with a unique combination of technical expertise and a strong belief in boxing as a tool for personal transformation.

Jesse has been recognized with multiple honors, including Coach of the Year by Boxing BC Association (2019) and Club of the Year (2023). He has coached Canada’s Youth National Team in major international competitions across Canada, and Internationally in Colombia and Germany, and has led British Columbia’s Provincial Team since 2018. His coaching journey has taken him around the world—Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico, Australia, Italy, France, Ireland, and beyond. Jesse’s lifelong commitment to boxing is matched only by his passion for helping others grow inside and outside the ring.

BOXING TRAINER

Peter Bockner

NCCP Instruction Beginner certified


With 10 years of coaching experience in both boxing and baseball, Peter Bockner has been instrumental in developing athletes through structured training and high-intensity conditioning. His expertise extends beyond the ring, having successfully led boxing cardio programs at Summit Gym and Transcendent Combat Sports in Nelson, BC.

Peter’s approach combines technical skill development, endurance training, and strategic coaching, helping athletes enhance their performance while building confidence and discipline. Whether training beginners or experienced fighters, he is dedicated to creating a supportive and challenging environment where every athlete can push their limits and achieve their goals.

BOXING TRAINER

Matt Brown

NCCP Competition Introduction Certified
7 years boxing experience, both as a competitor and trainer


Matt is a certified boxing trainer at the Nelson Boxing Club in Nelson, BC. With over seven years of boxing experience and three years as a trainer, he brings a strong foundation in technique and conditioning. His journey began with a deep appreciation for the physical and technical aspects of boxing, which eventually led him to compete. That dedication and personal growth now fuel his commitment to training others.

As a coach, Matt finds joy in working with a wide range of boxers, each bringing their own style and personality into the gym. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and helping others build confidence through disciplined practice. For Matt, boxing is more than a sport—it's a challenging but deeply rewarding pursuit that continues to inspire his work every day.

BOXING TRAINER

Milane D’Aurelie

Canadian National Champion
Best Youth Boxer in British Columbia


With two years of competitive fighting experience and three years of boxing experience, Milane is a passionate boxing coach. A proud Canadian National Champion and international fighter, 2024 Golden Gloves winner, Best Youth Boxer in British Columbia, she approaches every session with a fighter's mentality and elite-level expertise. Milane's ring experience has made her an informed, motivated coach who is enthusiastic about introducing people to the sport.   

Milane is not just a trainer but also a driven upholder for boxing and its transformative power. She creates a lively, supportive, and friendly environment for teaching boxing to newcomers. Her goal is to inspire new boxers and push them to their limits. Every workout is an inspirational and motivating experience because of Milane's upbeat attitude, tenacity, and enjoyable coaching style.

YOGA TEACHER AND DEDICATED MANAGER

Xochilt Ramirez

200-hour teacher training
50-hour Advanced Vinyasa Training


Xochilt Ramirez, originally from Nicaragua and raised in Italy, has called Nelson home since 2013, where she is one of the dedicated managers of the Nelson Boxing Club. Her journey into yoga began during prenatal classes, which sparked a deep interest in movement and wellness. In 2015, she completed her 200-hour teacher training at Shanti Yoga Studio, and soon began teaching at Shanti, Nelson School of Yoga, and eventually at the Nelson Boxing Club. In 2018, she furthered her education with a 50-hour Advanced Vinyasa Training, enriching her understanding of anatomy and biomechanics, particularly through her collaboration with Sevrin Baker at the Baker Wellness Centre.

Xochilt’s teaching is rooted in Alignment Flow Yoga, with a strong emphasis on deep stretching for athletes and beginners, as well as core engagement through Yoga Pilates-inspired movements. Her classes are known for their seamless sequences, supportive guidance, and a warm, inclusive atmosphere. Xochilt believes that the study of the human body is a lifelong pursuit, continually attending workshops to evolve her practice and bring fresh inspiration to her students. She offers classes in both English and Spanish, and welcomes all ages and levels in both private and group sessions.
